The pain point faced by a certain enterprise in Zhejiang: the digital transformation of warehousing in the sewing machine production industry, which means that the sewing machines produced by user enterprises need to be shipped to various domestic and foreign regions, with different SKUs (minimum inventory units) for different countries, languages, etc. Therefore, the enterprise needs an information system and an automated storage and handling system, so that workers can quickly and accurately find segmented product models through the system, and achieve automated handling to improve efficiency and avoid human error. A sewing machine needs to go through several stages from birth to leaving the factory, including the production workshop, packaging workshop, and finished product warehouse. As an AI oT technology enabler, Hebei Woke also hopes to work with corporate users to further develop new solutions and promote them to more downstream customers.
This time, Hebei Woke supports the construction of a finished product warehouse as one of the links, mainly by integrating artificial intelligence technology and automation technology to provide high ROI (input-output ratio) smart logistics solutions for domestic and foreign users.
This project is a renovation of an old warehouse, which may have limitations in terms of building size and other aspects. At the same time, this project has unique challenges, namely, it has two prominent goals: first, high-density storage, and second, rapid outbound. These two are often contradictory because high density means a small work area, making it difficult to ensure high efficiency. In order to meet specific needs, Hebei Woke has made some customization for the scene: 12 four-way vehicles and 4 elevators, equipped with 4 outbound and 2 inbound ports, 1 visual inventory workstation, and 7000 pallet storage spaces. The entire project design goal is 120 pallets per hour.
At the same time, based on the HEGERLS artificial intelligence vision algorithm, when the four-way shuttle pulls the tray over, it uses laser navigation and axis encoder to identify the cargo situation and assist in palletizing, achieving precise positioning and navigation of the four-way shuttle. When goods need to be shipped from this warehouse, by connecting the HEGERLS software system with the factory’s ERP system, the shipment status can be directly synchronized with the work management personnel.
The project only took three months from online to implementation. According to official data, the test results of this four-way vehicle warehouse have basically met the standards, with a 110% increase in storage density compared to before the renovation and an efficiency improvement of over 50% compared to the traditional mode. It connects with the packaging workshop through information technology and automated linkage, greatly reducing the error rate of personnel operations compared to before and improving efficiency.
Currently, upgrading the automation and digitization of factory warehouses and logistics centers is an inevitable choice. Whether it’s automated warehousing or intelligent warehousing, solutions need to be more affordable and inclusive to more enterprises.
